Nezávislí umělci za důstojné působiště Studia ALTA

Obecným důvodem, proč dnes potřebujeme divadlo, tanec a živé umění, je to, že odolávají a vždy budou odolávat digitalizaci, protože bez živých lidí a jejich setkání nemůžou existovat. Divadelníci, tanečníci, performeři a umělci zabývající se sdíleným okamžikem jsou odborníky na komunikaci a sdílení tady a teď, a právě proto dnes divadlo získává historicky důležitou roli. Díky našemu neustálému připojení je naše společnost čím dál víc fragmentována, ztrácíme společný základ, ať už ideový, vizuální, nebo jazykový… Divadlo je veřejná služba, nástroj pro balancování, společný zážitek, setkání, rituál, reflexe, katarze, místo, kde odkládáme “chytré” telefony a sdílíme spolu, jsme spolu, cítíme spolu. Právě společně prožité sdílené okamžiky jsou nevyhnutelným předpokladem k tomu, abychom jako jedno lidstvo dokázali čelit moderním výzvám, jakou je globální ekologická krize. V tomto divadelním rámci zastávají speciální postavení umělci nezávislí, tvůrci nepodléhající institucím, protože jsou těmi nejsvobodnějšími, nejnepoplatnějšími, ale zároveň také nejzranitelnějšími a nejohroženějšími. V nezávislých podmínkách mohou vznikat myšlenky, ideje a zážitky, které si až do jejich vzniku nedovede nikdo představit.

Studio ALTA je v celé ČR jedno z ojedinělých míst, které systematicky podporuje právě takové tvůrce a živé umění. Na základě otevřené soutěže jim poskytuje náhradní domov pro realizaci jejich děl. Zároveň jde o pomyslnou bránu pro zahraniční nezávislé tvůrce z celého světa. Toto místo, tato instituce, je pomyslný kotel, ve kterém se setkávají nezávislí umělci z celé ČR a z celého světa, děti a matky z dětských kroužků, zástupci neziskových organizací - pořádající v prostorách “Obýváku” konference a různorodé prezentace, návštěvníci kavárny - pracující, popíjející, oddychující, výtvarníci se svými výstavami, nebo lidé z coworkingu, kteří zde mají svoje kanceláře. Všichni tito lidé nalézají ve Studiu ALTA dočasný domov. Toto všechno vzniká a funguje jen kvůli tomu, že po tom byla, je a bude poptávka, která je uspokojována pro hodnoty jako je reflexe, tvorba, kreativita a sdílení. Ne pro vydělávání peněz. Dohromady toto místo generuje nevídané podhoubí, z něhož vzkvétají nové myšlenky, inscenace, soubory, a především silná komunita, která stojí na skutečných, nikoliv digitálních vztazích. Tato jedinečná komunita existuje díky nasazení týmu Studia ALTA, který pracuje déle než dekádu za podmínek, které nejsou vzhledem k jejich společenskému přínosu, důstojné. Nyní, mávnutím kouzelného proutku, má vše přijít vniveč. Ano, Studio ALTA se přesune do prostoru v Invalidovně, ale opět do nedůstojného prostředí, jehož úprava do provozuschopnosti ( tzn. funkční divadelní sál, vyhřáté zkušebny s kvalitní podlahou, sprchy, záchody, kanceláře, místo k setkání atd. ) vytvoří ještě enormnější nároky na tým Studia ALTA než doposud, což může vést k tomu nejhoršímu, k většímu vyčerpání, ke konci i k rozpadu celého týmu - a tak ke ztrátě tolik důležitého ekosystému, mezinárodního uzlu, komunity, divadla, zkušebny, a prostoru pro setkání, který nemá obdoby.

Pokud jako zvolení reprezentanti české společnosti dbáte o zdraví jednotlivců a společnosti jako celku, pokud věříte, že zdravá společnost je ta, která šlechtí představivost, a to proto, aby byla schopna sebereflexe a sebekorekce, apelujeme na vás jako nezávislí divadelníci - Pomozte týmu Studia ALTA najít místo, které bude důstojné a umožní mu navázat na doposud vynikající práci, mnohokrát v minulosti potvrzenou, ať už cenou české divadelní DNA, nebo neustálou grantovou podporou MK ČR, MHMP a mnohých dalších organizací. My, nezávislí umělci, jsme ze své podstaty jen potenciál toho, co můžeme být, poskytovat, nebo sdílet, pokud nebude prostor a místo pro náš společný rozvoj, kterým pro nás Studio ALTA je. Pokud se otočíte zády k ALTĚ, otočíte se zády k nám všem, a poté už nebude téměř žádného místa, kde najdeme zastání.

Independent artists for a dignified location of Studio ALTA

General reason, why we need theatre, dance and life performing arts is the fact that they resist and will always resist digitalisation, because they can't exist without humans and their encounters in flesh. Theater and dance makers, performers and artists actively occupied with accessing the present moment are experts in communication skills and the sharing of “the here and now” and it is exactly thanks to these skills theatre obtains a new historically important role. Because of the possibility of being continuously connected virtually, our society paradoxically becomes more and more fragmented. We lose a common base, be it ideological, visual or linguistic one. Theatre is a public service, a tool to balance, a common experience in togetherness, a meeting, a ritual, a reflection, a catharsis, a place where we can put the “smart” phones away and share together, be together, feel together. And it is the snippets of time that can be spent sharing a togetherness that become the inevitable presupposition for a society to be able to face the modern challenges of today's world, such as the global ecological crisis. In this scheme the independent artists and creators free of the commitment to any institution have a special position, as they are the most free, least corruptible. But also the most fragile and endangered. In independent conditions they can be reflecting new thoughts, ideas and experiences, which can't even be imagined by most of us until their actual creation.

Studio ALTA is one of the very significant spaces in Czech Republic, which systematically supports exactly those kind of creators and life performing art, whilst at the same time offering a kind of a gateway to the independent artists from all over the world. Based on open competition it offers a home base for creation and realisation of their art works. Furthermore, this place, this institution, could also be seen as an imaginary boiling pot in which there are endless meetings, encounters, connections and crossings of independent artists from all of Czech Republic and all over the world, kids and their parents from educational courses, representatives of non-profit organisations holding their conferencial meetings and presentations in the area of the “Living room” cafe and visitors of the cafeteria - working, enjoying a cup of coffee or just resting, visual artists and painters with their countless exhibitions, people who have their offices here in the co-working context. All these people find a momentary home in Studio ALTA. And all of this comes to existence and works only because there was and will be a demand for it, that is satisfying values such as reflection, creation, creativity and sharing, rather than a monetary one. All together this space generates an unprecedented ground base for the blossoming of new thought forms, performances, collectives, and most of all a powerful community, which stands on real and not digital relationships.

This unique community exists thanks to the investment of the marvellous team of Studio ALTA, which works now for more than a decade in conditions that are far from adequate and dignified compared to the social impact of their work. And now, in a blink of an eye, all this effort shall be put to waste. Indeed, Studio ALTA moving to the space of Invalidovna means re-entering a non dignified environment, which asks a tremendous effort in order to be repaired into conditions enabling its running (aka functional theater space, heated and isolated studios for rehearsals with adequate floors, toilets and showers, offices, shared space for meetings and so on...) This creates an even higher pressure on the already strained team of Studio ALTA, which could lead to the worst - over exhaustion and a break down of the whole team - and in such the loss of this endlessly important ecosystem, international knot, community, theatre, rehearsal studios, space for encounters unlike any other in this country and in the world.

If you as the elected representatives of the Czech society care of the health of its individuals and the society as a whole, if you believe that a healthy society is one that values imagination, capability of self-reflection and self-correction, we appeal to you as independent artists and performers - Help the team of Studio ALTA to find a location that will be dignified and will allow a smooth transition in connection to the so far achieved work results, rewarded many times in the past by the prize of the Czech theatre DNA, a continuous subsidy support of the MK ČR, MHMP and many other organisations. We, independent artists, are in our essence only the potential of which we can become, what we can offer or share, that depends hugely and can only be achieved by the support of a space, which for us is Studio ALTA. If you turn your backs to Studio ALTA, you turn your back to all of us and we will not have another way to find the very needed support.
